Turf Materials played a pivotal role in the complete tee and greens renovation at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin, TX. The renovation process included:
- Excavation of old Greens Mix: The greens were excavated 6 inches down to remove the old greens mix.
- Tilling Greens to 12” Depth: The greens were tilled to a depth of 12 inches to prepare for the new mix.
- New Greens Mix Material: The new greens mix was composed of 90% USGA sand and 10% Dakota peat, carefully floated and shaped to perfection.
- Sprigging with Certified TifEagle: The greens were sprigged with certified TifEagle bermudagrass, known for its excellent playability and durability.
For the tee boxes, the process included:
- Sod Stripping and Laser Leveling: All sod was stripped, and the tees were laser leveled to a 2% grade fall towards the cart path and a 2% front-to-back fall.
- Topping with Old Greens Mix: The tees were topped with the old greens mix and then sodded with Latitude 36 bermudagrass.
In total, 3,000 tons of sand and 18 tons of bulk bagged Dakota peat were trucked to the site. The blending of the materials was done on-site to create the perfect 90/10 greens mix.
